Booking me as your wedding photographer - what to expect

So I’m going to be putting together a few blog posts to help with the planning process of your wedding photography and wedding in general over the next few weeks.

I thought I’d start with a little post about what to expect when you book me as your wedding photographer, from the initial enquiry to booking and then to the delivery of your wedding photos.

I’ve had many years experience in the wedding industry and have photographed hundreds of weddings and I truly love being able to do this job! So if your looking to book your wedding photographer in the near future, grab a coffee and have a little read of this post!

Your enquiry

I get loads of enquiries every month and I aim to get back to you within a day or so… you can enquiry about your wedding date here. When you do enquire, it’s always best to give me as much information as possible about your wedding, but the main things are date and location.

When I receive your contact form, I’ll get back to you letting you know if I am available on your wedding date and if I am, i’ll send over my PDF brochure. It gives you all the info on how I like to work and all the investment details. I’ll also send you a couple of blog post links for you to take a look at. I usually try to send something that will be of interest to you, such as a wedding photographed at the same wedding venue or similar. This will give you an idea of what to expect from my style of wedding photography.

If i’m not available, I can whizz you over a couple of websites of other photographers to try… they will be wedding photographers that I can highly recommend and work that I love!

A little get together

I always like a good old chat about weddings and if it’s possible to meet up with me before booking, that would be great! If you live a little way away, we could always Skype! It’s always good to hear what you have in mind and what you want from your wedding photography and I love to know all the plans you have too!

If you and I both feel that I’d be a good fit for you and your wedding, then the next step will be to get you booked in…

Booking you in

I’ll send you over a booking form and some terms and conditions to fill out and sign and send back to me. An invoice for the £300 booking fee will also be sent to you.

Once you’ve sent the form back to me and paid your booking fee, you’ll be all booked in and I’ll send you another email confirming all of that!

After booking, there will be probably be some time for you to relax and get on with other wedding planning bits and pieces, but I’m always at the end of an email or phone call if you have any questions. I do know a lot of other suppliers, so if your’e in need of a recommendation, please ask as I may know the perfect person! I only recommend other suppliers that I have worked with and or know how good they are through other mutual friends.

4 months before your wedding

If you’ve booked a pre-wedding shoot and not already had it, now will be the time to get it booked in. Summer months are especially busy and weekends are often booked up way in advance! So if your’e only free on weekends, think about getting it booked in asap!

Pre-wedding shoots are great for both you as a couple and me as a photographer. I can see how you both interact with each other and more importantly, you’ll learn how I work and because I want to get those natural moments between the two of you, you’ll find out I don’t always tell you exactly what to do… a little direction is given, but it’s always nice to see how you both go in for a cuddle and hold each other… if your’e nervous or not looking forward to having those couple portraits for fear of feeling awkward and unnatural, all the more reason to have a pre-wedding shoot! I promise it will make you feel much more relaxed on your wedding day!

2 months before your wedding

I’ll be getting in touch to find out when we can chat or get together again to go over all your plans in finer details, sort out the timeline for your photography and note down any important group shots you may want. The final balance will be due on or before 1 calendar month before your wedding date, so I’ll also send over your remaining balance details.

Your wedding day

Everything has been planned and in place for your big day. I’ll be so excited to get going and start photographing your wedding! We will have already organised what time I’ll start and finish, so I’ll see you there!!

A few days after your wedding

I’ll usually do a couple of sneak peeks for you to see and share with your family and friends. I usually do this via my facebook and instagram pages, but will happily send you the high res images if you’d like to use them for thank you cards!

6 weeks after your wedding

You’ll receive your online gallery where you will be able to view all of your wedding photographs and share the gallery with family and friends! If you’ve ordered an album, you can start thinking about your favourite images to have included in your wedding album design!

8 weeks after your wedding

Your USB filled with all the yummy images from your big day will arrive in the post! I’ll usually ask you to confirm where you would like me to post this as it will need signing for!

Ordering your wedding album or any additional products

Additional products are always available to purchase via the online gallery from the day you receive it! Anything from small prints to frames and canvases are available for purchase.

Ordering your wedding album is slightly different. You need to choose your images that you’d like to be included in the design. I will then design the page layouts and send back to you for you to confirm, along with any cover and text options to make your wedding album completely unique!

Lots of love! Sam x
