worcester wedding photography // faqs

I've decided I am going to write a series of wedding planning blog posts for all you brides and grooms out there who are still in the process of planning your wedding. As wedding professionals we all get asked the same questions over and over... and there's nothing wrong with that at all... it means you're asking the right ones! But sometimes one or two can slip your mind when trying to cram all the information in, and by the time you get home after meeting with your wedding photographer, your brain feels like scrambled egg! So hopefully this series may help you out when trying to find that perfect wedding photographer or maybe something else for the big day...

Most of the topics I will be covering are going to be wedding photography related, however, I also have a few other topics that I am going to throw in, to mix things up a little... so keep your eyes peeled...

So to kick off... Wedding photography FAQ's. I thought this was a perfect start... here are some of the FAQ's I get asked when in meetings with my potential and current clients.

Feel free to let me know if you have a question you'd like me to answer and I'll happily add to the post...

WHERE ARE YOU BASED + WHAT AREAS DO YOU COVER?

I am based in Worcester and cover all the surrounding areas in Worcestershire, Hereford, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, Birmingham and the West Midlands. I also cover the whole of the UK. Travel charges may apply depending on distance from Worcester. Get in touch to get a personalised quote if you are having a wedding a little further a field...

HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE?

My wedding photography prices start from £1200. To receive my wedding brochure and get more information on the investment in to wedding photography, fill out my contact form. I'll check i'm still available on your wedding date and send you one right over...

WE ARE GETTING MARRIED DURING THE WEEK, DO YOU DISCOUNTS?

Unfortunately, I do not offer discounts. If you are getting married during the winter months, or within the week days, I will put in the same amount of time, energy, work and love into your wedding as I would if you were getting married August bank holiday weekend. Wedding photography takes up a lot of man hours, including the initial meetings, photography, paper work, editing, (the list goes on) and I price my work accordingly to cover all my expenses and to make a fair living. Plus, it would be super unfair for you to pay full price and me give someone else a reduced rate.

DO YOU HAVE INSURANCE?

Yep... I have full liability and indemnity insurance...

HOW LONG DO YOU STAY FOR?

You'll see that I offer 'all day photography' in my wedding photography options, which cover from bridal preparations until your first dance. This means that I tailor the hours I work to suit your wedding timings. Everything is taken into account, ie. travel times between venues, what time you are getting married and what time you are going to be doing your first dance. Typically I would start around 2 hours before your ceremony and then finish around 30/45 minutes after your first dance. If you needed extra coverage for such things as fireworks, you can add this on as an optional extra. Just ask.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU'RE ILL?

No person can say that they will never be ill, and this includes all wedding photographers. (as well as all your other wedding suppliers too!)  However, it would have to be something extremely serious for me not to attend your wedding. I take my commitment to you very seriously and have never had reason or illness to cancel my services to my clients before. I always keep myself in good health and keep out of trouble! ;-) However, if it was something extremely serious and I found myself unable to work, I would do everything in my power to get you a replacement photographer to cover your day. Failing that, of course you would receive a full refund.

WHEN WOULD WE RECEIVE OUR PHOTOS?

After your wedding day, I'll go home and start editing. Once your images are ready you'll receive a link to your online gallery within 5 weeks of your wedding day. Then your USB shortly after!

DO YOU TAKE ANY FORMAL SHOTS?

Yes! Definitely! Family groups are really important, but I try and keep them short and sweet so you can enjoy time with your guests!

DO YOUR OFFER A PRINT SERVICE?

Yes! You and all your family and friends can buy prints and other print products straight from your online gallery.

CAN WE MAKE OUR OWN PRINTS FROM THE USB?

Yes! your USB will contain high resolution files for you to print as many images as you wish!

WE WANT TO BOOK, WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

I'll check I'm available on your wedding date and if i am... I'll send you over a booking form which will need to be returned to me along with a non-refundable booking fee of £300... and then you're all set!

WHEN IS THE REMAINING BALANCE DUE?

Your remaining balance will be due one calendar month before your wedding day.

WILL WE OWN THE COPYRIGHT?

No, Sam Jayne Photography retains the copyright. This means you do not have the right to sell, modify or enter the images into any competitions. This will be the same for every professional wedding photographer.

WILL WE SEE ANY SNEAK PEAKS BEFORE WE RECEIVE ALL OUR PHOTOS?

Yes! I love to show off a couple of my images before you go on your honeymoon and while the excitement of the day is still super fresh in your mind! I usually tag you in the images on facebook and instagram.

WE WANT TO BOOK, BUT CAN'T PAY THE BOOKING FEE YET. CAN WE BE PENCILLED IN?

Sorry no. I can only hold your wedding date with a full booking fee and contract.

WILL YOU NEED FEEDING?

It would be super kind of you to supply a meal for me on the day. I don't need a full wedding breakfast like your guests though... speak to your caterers and see what they can provide.

WOULD YOU RECOMMEND HAVING A SECOND PHOTOGRAPHER?

This would depend on the type of wedding you are having. If you are having a very small intimate wedding two photographers may be a bit much. However, having a second photographer is a bonus if you have loads and loads of guests attending your wedding or if you wanted groom prep covered as well as bride prep and you're getting ready in separate locations. I work on my own most of the time so having a second photographer is not essential, but may work well if your having a busy day!
